Blackbird	Gisli Kristjansson producer / mix engineer

Blackbird, a sneak attack hip-hop surrealist in a suit jacket and chain bondage, is a natural eccentric who commands listeners with left-of-center songs that are an amalgamation of hip-hop, punk, down tempo and alternative.

Blackbird began writing and performing in the early 90s with experimental hip-hop group Darkleaf. Later, he worked with producer Paris Zax on a project called Fetterless, followed by a collaboration with world renowned DJ Cut Chemist, and the formation of alternative pop-punk rock band Blackbird and The Feather'd People.

Never stopping to take a break, and ready for something different, Blackbird then tracked down Thavius Beck to collaborate on a new concept– something that defied genres. Black Electro was born.

If he isn't traveling around the world, working with bands from Iceland, Norway, L.A., Trinidad & Tobago or the US, Icelandic producer, mix engineer and multi-instrumentalist Gisli Kristjansson can be found at Dean Studios, located in the heart of London's SoHo, where music legends like Bowie and T Rex recorded their hits in the 70s and on.

Gisli has written, recorded and produced music for a wide variety of national and international artists and record companies, and - signed to EMI - he also found time to release his own, critically acclaimed album, How About That?

The list of bands and people he has worked with - sometimes starting from scratch, sometimes adding final touches - includes Grammy Award winning singer Duffy, Jamie Cullum, Lauren Pritchard, Jan Garbarek, Norwegian punk pop sensation Ida Maria, Kids Love Lies, L.A. producer Mickey Petralia (Beck), Mick Jones of The Clash, Envy & Other Sins, Dave Bascombe, Money Mark, Kate Havnevik, L.A. band Coco B's, Eliza Newman, Rachel Furner, Woody Jackson, Half Tiger, EMI, Mercury, Sony and many more.
